49 miles to Walden, Colorado.
This was our shortest ride distance since the town of West Yellowstone, Montana. Unfortunately the wind had plans for us. The Wind Gods came and asked for payment for the favorable winds we have enjoyed the last few days. Having no suitable payment to offer they slapped us with a 15 MPH headwind and sent us on our way. The first 13 miles took almost 2 hours. 25 miles was almost 4 hours. At the end of the day it took almost 7 hours to go 49 miles. Exhausting.
Last night in Riverside we ate dinner with a husband/wife team biking the Transamerica bike trail from Yorktown, Virginia to Astoria, Oregon. A total of 4218 miles. Remarkably, this is their first bike trip. Very ambitious.
Today in Walden, we ate dinner with 2 gentleman also riding the Transamerica trail. For both of them it is also their first long distance bike trip. Amazing. We also passed 9 other bicycle tourers today on our route.
