June 29

Got up this morning and rode 8 miles to the Old Faithful Lodge for breakfast.  We each had a ham, egg, and cheese bagel and drank 2-3 bottles full of water.  We both felt quite dehydrated due to trying to conserve water while we were low yesterday.  After breakfast we waited (along with a few thousand other tourists) for the Old Faithful geyser to blow its top.  After the eruption we walked along a trail and 4 miles of boardwalks looking at other geysers and colored hot springs.

Then it was back on the road.  We planned to go another 42 miles to stop at a campsite to see if they had a spot for us.  But before we could do that we had to climb another crazy mountain.  It was so ridiculously steep that we were forced to stop several times.  It left us completely exhausted.  Luckily, when we arrived at the campsite, they had no tent sites left but offered us an open RV site to pitch our tents.  We took a shower, had a sandwich for dinner, an went to bed.

This was our second day with no cell service and no wifi.  The part about no cell service took me by surprise.  No cell service means I can't check upcoming weather, can't check Google Maps for stores, accommodations, or for a change of directions, and can't call for help, if needed.  Despite that, everything has worked out well so far.

Huge crowd lined up to see Old Faithful geyser.
Not Old Faithful.  Just another geyser inn the park.

The top of today's mountain pass.  Exhausting!!
